Support the Growth of the Yahua Ancestral School and
Living Wisdom Center
The Amazonian Yahua tribe, relocated by the government in the 1970s to a small reservation near the city of Iquitos, faces immense challenges in preserving their ancestral culture and sustaining their livelihood. The limited land and resources have forced many to rely on tourism for survival, putting their rich traditions at risk of fading away.
In the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, the first Yahua Ancestral School maloca now stands complete. It was brought into being entirely through the proceeds from Roman Hanis’s international bestseller in Shamanism, Beyond Ayahuasca. Every page read, every word shared, helped transform a story into a ceremonial learning space for the community’s children.

We are now inviting our extended global family to join us in expanding this space of remembrance. Your support will help us:
Build five small dieta huts, where youth can experience rites of passage guided by their elders and visitors can live among community for periods of time and support the community while being immersed in the tribal life.
Install compostable sanitary bathrooms that honor the forest’s delicate balance.
Establish simple water-flow systems powered by solar energy, allowing for washing and showers without harming the environment.
Develop a culturally-rooted curriculum that carries ancestral stories, emotional intelligence, ecological awareness, and the teachings of the living forest.
Bring wisdom keepers from deeper Yahua communities so the children can receive teachings preserved far from settlement life.
Each of these steps expands the school beyond a structure and into a living sanctuary of culture, learning, and intergenerational connection.
